MMOHut.com – This may be the ultimate product review blog. Why? Because the site does not really appear to be advertising at all and yet it makes an unbelievable amount of money. When I first found out about this site I couldn’t tell at all how it made money. While I had a few guesses as to their monetization methods I found that I was fairly far off base; and I feel like I should be able to figure things like this out.

The site reviews many different role playing or multi-player online games and then links to cost per action signups for many of those games. When a user comes to the site and subsequently signs up for a new game the owners of MMOHut are paid for originating that new sign up.

What really makes this site great is the amount of traffic that it receives. Affiliate and CPA marketing is largely a numbers game, so it can take a tremendous amount of visitors to equate into even a small amount of revenue. The owners of the site simply have done a tremendous job in marketing and search engine optimization. While the site hasn’t been around for a long amount of time it appears to be in the top three results on Google for the keyword “MMO”; you really couldn’t ask for anything better.

SkilledGigs.com appears to bridge the gap between homeowners and skilled laborers. While this is not an unfilled niche it certainly is not one which appears to be over saturated either. The programming on this site appears to be unique and there certainly is plenty of profit potential. The site is exploitable for gain, but I think you would have to be long term oriented.

Currently the site is making about $500 per month from adsense earnings. While adsense is fine I believe that there is far more potential here. The owner should do away with adsense entirely as it cheapens the interface. Instead they should focus on promoting the site at a loss with an end goal of flipping to a more established player. Yes, this is a risky proposition, but it only takes a small amount of market share to become a threat to your competition.

Primarily I would focus this site on gaining market share. As a secondary effort I would switch the monetization method to local advertising. If you are showing listings in 40 different areas you could easily charge $200 per month per geo targeted ad and generate $8,000 per month from the site. However, growth should be their first focus.

ArtPaw.com – Some people are suckers for artistic renderings of their pets; ArtPaw caters to that crowd by offering hand designed electronic renderings of pets that appear to have been painted. Once the image is complete ArtPaw will print the image on a canvas for you and ship it out. While there are multiple other services available which are similar, there is always a great market for gifts such as these.

Capitalizing on one of your skill sets is by far one of the most rewarding and lucrative ventures. This particular artist will spend perhaps two or three hours on any given image and, depending on the canvas size, will most likely realize around $50.00 per hour. However, the most important aspect of this business may well be that while it is not only enjoyable for the artist they are also able to work at their own leisure and pace. Why work a day job when you could be doing what you love?

Starting a similar company would be fairly easy assuming you had the skill set. Word of mouth marketing alone should carry you into several initial sales. Once you have generated starting revenue you could simply return your capital into having a website made and then begin your marketing efforts.
