New Advertising.

I often receive a local newsletter which is nothing more than a four page print out full of about 30 ads from local companies and services. There is no text or substance of any kind. Just ads.

I can only assume that one person is going around charging these companies several hundred dollars to be included in one publication. They then distribute say 2000 of the newsletters to homes within a particular area. So they are charging quite a bit and it takes almost nothing to print these things and have them delivered.

I have often wondered how easily you could undercut those advertising fees by simply switching to a web based format. So, instead of delivering a newsletter simply post the ads on the website.

Seems like it would be an easy way to make money and put the newsletter out of business.

Adsense Category Filters

Did you know that Google just released a feature called Category filter. The basic idea is that you can review how much money a particular category of ads is making versus their total renderings on your site.

This is extremely useful if you are realizing little to no return on any particular category of advertisments. Simply disable that category and they will no longer show. Also, you may want to avoid showing sexually suggestive ads altogether. Those can be blocked using this feature.

Keep in mind that blocking ad categories will affect your Adsense ads on every site your code displays on. There is not currently a way to filter by domain. Still, I think that this is a very useful feature, and people are reporting increased earnings after having filtered out the lower returning adverts.

After spending a lot of time working solely on Snipsly.com, I am now starting Site Aim.
