Unfortunately they’re doing it by culling up tons and tons of trash posts. One look at the site and the posts on it are a dead giveaway for their strategy. They cranking out classic examples of keword stuffing in what I call the “Live Streaming” niche.

This niche tends to focus on sporting events and world cricket/soccer (football) matches. At Snipsly garbage posts like this were (unfortunately) a large source of traffic and a major target for our moderation efforts all at the same time. By repeating key phrases like “Streaming on Your PC” the webmaster is attempting to pull in CPA and/or affiliate sales for streaming TV services that tend to pay out fairly well. However, more often then not customers of such services have nothing but complaints for the products they purchase.

I can’t believe Google hasn’t shut down this tactic yet. Sites like this make me want to throw up.

So many people have jumped on the niche site bandwagon that it really amazes me. Google’s Matt Cutts has said in the past that Google was intending to go after these “shallow” sites and it appears that they have finally taken that first step. Last week Cutts announced that the search engine would be moving toward an “Over-Optimization” penalty. This SXSW announcement came almost at the exact time that Google moved to delist several blog networks.

Recently it seems that a great number of people were utilizing these blog networks as a way to push out backlinks in quantity. And it worked. The sites were listed more quickly and could rank better. Alas, it is still gaming Google’s algorithms. So, while this move isn’t good for the niche site business, it is most likely good for search results overall.

I’ve Seen This Before:

When I was running Snipsly we had a major problem with someone in asia skimming our article feeds onto their autoblog. Once it was on their autoblog they had a network (really more of a web) of other blogs that would skim from their own main site. In effect they had built their own automated network for backlinks pointing to their own main site. In many cases they were ranking higher than we were for our own unique articles. We even asked Google how this site could get away with this tactic. Ultimately we had to send DMCA to the hosting company to stop this practice, but we probably lost tens of thousands of daily page views and untold revenue.

What’s next?

Well, there are certainly still many great ways to get backlinks out there.. More legitimate ways. But, I can’t help but think that perhaps this will spawn a marketplace for Ultra Private (perhaps invitation only) Private Blog Networks. Remember when Google delisted Text Link Ads? Several major sites were slapped for using the backlinking service, but it didn’t stop marketers from seeking out backlinks directly. Anyone who has ever owned a website can tell you that they receive solicitations for purchases. So, I don’t see what would stop major SEO providers from building proprietary/private backlink networks.

Recession? Boom Times? One industry never fails to deliver, and that’s the wedding industry. The only things that change in the marital industry are the seasons. And, of course, spring and summer are boom times. That’s why well SEO’d authority sites like themaidofhonorguide.com can be killer Adsense vehicles. This particular site makes a healthy annual sum off of Adsense alone. But tucked away among various useful items for visitors are a few affiliate offers which are simply the icing on the revenue cake.

Of course, the problem with sites like these is that your audience is perpetually fleeting virtually always new visitors. They aren’t interested in long standing relationships with the site. This is purely SERP traffic that may only be around for a single article. So focusing your efforts on gaining traffic is really your main priority. Not a bad proposition. Not a bad residual earner.

The keywords surrounding these sites have the ability to bring in a steady flow of traffic. And that’s exactly what enjoyagame.com does.

This site may not have the best Alexa ranking, or make tons of money, but it does have a dedicated audience and that can really make the difference between a profit and a loss. Rushes of traffic aren’t necessary to making considerable amounts of money. You can do just as easily with a small but highly focused audience. Enjoy a Game average something like 5 and half page views per visit. Yet they are relying solely on Adsense for revenue. This owner could easily increase their revenue by simply adding some CPM ads.

But… They could really take this site to next level by pairing down the Adsense presence and offering a plainly visible CPA add. Of course, they might be able to do very well by offering a simple giveaway and building a credible and focused mailing list that might respond to multiple CPA or Affiliate offers which they are truly interested in.

EnjoyAGame smellslike money on the table if you ask me.

And there is none better than Google. So, with Google pushing ton’s of relevant traffic to the site, the owners of learnhypnosisinyourhome.com have turned about 4,000 unique visitors per month into absolute passive GOLD.

Through powerful content, powerful SEO, and powerful product offerings this webmaster has managed to make well into the 5 figures per year simply selling an ebook for $22.00. They also maintain a mailing list. But, as every ethical marketer knows, your mailing list should be reserved for primarily helpful content. Every so often you can offer your mailing list something of value to their interests. And that is exactly what they have done. And because they don’t spam their list, their readers are super responsive.

This is the perfect execution. Hypnotizing.

I have seen many similar models that are based on CPC advertising that payout very well, but this site takes that same concept one step farther by selling leads directly to a marketing firm. Lead generation for auto and health insurance can pay in the neighborhood of $50, or more, per lead and can be extremely lucrative if you can drive the correct traffic. This particular site appears to be professionally designed and coded, with high level click tracking implementation. They appear to be selling leads to Trouve Media and making somewhere around $11,000.00 in monthly revenue and netting out about $3,000 after their marketing expenditures.

This is an excellent implementation of a proven idea. This can be extremely profitable.

I suppose it may still be, but I was a little surprised to see that a business like get twitters was still up and running. Some time ago Twitter went on the offensive and tried to deflate the thousands of businesses on their periphery. However, many companies like gettwitters.com are still in business selling a service that automatically adds new twitter followers to your account. The obvious benefit for the end user is that they now have a larger audience to tweet (or market) to.

GetTwitters makes about $1,500 – $2,000 per month fairly passively. The site is extremely well designed and would be fairly easy to set up yourself. All that you really need is a script which automatically logs into a users account and then seeks out other accounts to add as a follower. The script only executes so many requests per day in an attempt avoid detection from Twitter. I am sure that today there are a fairly good number of scripts which would offer this entire business in a box.

I can’t tell you how many static html sites I see that are dragging in some decent set and forget Adsense (or even Amazon Affiliate) income. In fact, I have noticed that on the whole static html tends to fair better than letting a wordpress site age. A decent example is walnutflooring.org, which passively generates about 100 per month. Another execution of the same concept can be found at GlobalNursingHub.com.

There are several critical components that go into making this happen:

Aggressive Adsense placement is obviously a top priority.

Exact Domain Matching can certainly help. That is to say that if your domain exactly matches the search engine query you are much more likely to gain a viable income which justifies your efforts. You can most likely get by with an extra word (like “hub”) but it will make things much more difficult.

BACKLINKS, BACKLINKS, BACKLINKS. The key to making something like this work is to generate a solid backlink portfolio. When it comes to backlinks quality can often outweigh quantity. I have seen certain publishers build out dozens of $200/month static sites based largely on eZineArticle backlinks.

I would imagine that just about every enterprising webmaster has considering outsourcing content creation as a business model. OrderArticlesNow.com is one example out of the 7 zillion content writing businesses that typically last for about 3 months on the web.

If you know where to look you can most likely lock down a half decent writer for about $3.00 per300 word article. The hardest part is usually just finding one that can write a coherent sentence in English. What we see here is someone making a few hundred extra dollars per month by charging 5 dollars for something that costs them 3 dollars. However, once you factor in their PPC costs they probably aren’t even justifying the time it takes them to take orders and pass them on to the writer.

It generally doesn’t take people long to figure out that this business model…. sucks.

However, some intelligent group of folks decided they would just go ahead and make their own weight loss offer. Using media buys, affiliate networks, emailing and ppc, Maquickslim.com generated monthly revenues of about $35,000.00. Pushing their own labeled weight loss product they were able to net out profits of about $16,000.00 per month.

I believe that the FDA may have changed the laws recently regarding weight loss products (AKA diet supplements), but in the past you never needed FDA clearance on basic herbal supplements. This loophole allows for just about anyone to create their own diet supplements without having to go through a lengthy governmental approval process. Combine that drive with affiliate and CPA know-how and you have a full fledge retail outfit on your hands.
